ตอนนี้ Cloud Storage มีประสิทธิภาพมากตอนนี้ ใช้เก็บข้อมูลได้เยอะ แทนการพก Hard disk หลายๆตัวแทน
สมัยก่อนผมหรือหลายๆคนคงจะใช้ Handy drive เก็บข้อมูลคอมพิวเตอร์กัน (ไม่อยากย้อนไปเมื่อหลายปีก่อน) ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่เราก็จะมีหลายอันมากๆ ต่อมาเราก็หันมาใช้ Hard disk แบบพกพา ซึ่งตัวผมเองก็ยังมีหลายอันเช่นเดิม แต่หลังจากนั้น เมื่อประมาณ 5 ปีกว่าๆ มานี้ Cloud drive หรือ Cloud storage มีการพัฒนามาอย่างต่อเนื่อง จนปัจจุบันนี้ผมแทบจะใช้มันอย่างเป็นทางการเกือบจะ 100% เลยก็ว่าได้ ของการเก็บข้อมูลของผมเลยก็ว่าได้ (มั่นใจมากไปไหม 555+)
Cloud storage คือการให้บริการจัดเก็บข้อมูลบนเครือข่าย ผู้ใช้สามารถดึงงานหรือเอกสารจากนอกสถานที่ตั้งของผู้ใช้ได้ แทนที่จะจัดเก็บข้อมูลลงบน Hard Drive บนเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ที่บ้านหรือที่ทำงาน ซึ่งสามารถจัดเก็บข้อมูล หรือฐานข้อมูลบนเครือข่ายที่ใดที่หนึ่งบนเครือข่ายที่อยู่ไกลออกไป แต่อย่างไรก็ตามเราต้องมีอินเทอร์เน็ตในการเข้าถึงข้อมูลนี้ ดังนั้น ถ้าผมแก้ไฟล์งานที่บ้านแล้วกดบันทึก เมื่อไปถึงที่ทำงาน ก็สามารถเปิดไฟล์นั้นมาทำต่อเนื่องได้ทันทีเลย โดยมันทำงานผ่านอุปกรณ์คอมพิวเตอร์หลายอย่าง เช่น PC, Laptop, Tablet หรือ Smartphone เป็นต้น
ซึ่งตอนนี้ที่ผมใช้อยู่ประจำคือ Dropbox, One Drive ของ ไมโครซอฟท์, และ GoogleDrive โดย User ของ ม.นเรศวร สามารถเข้าใช้งานของ OneDrive และ GoogleDrive ได้เป็นอย่างดี
